There are minimum yo-yo test standards required for players in the Malaysian Soccer League (MSL) and Singapore 's domestic professional league (S-League). The S-League introduced the yo-yo test as a compulsory fitness test in 2018, replacing the 2.4km run or beep test. The standard that was set for the players is a minimum of 18.4.
The reliability of the test has been described elsewhere . We previously reported that test-retest yielded similar results in 19 subjects (9 women, 10 men; age, 19.4 ± 1.8 years) with intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) r = 0.96 for the MRS 30-15IFT. The mean MRS 30-15IFT was similar (20.1 ± 0.7 vs. 20.2 ± 0.9 km·h −1).
1. The participant will run the 20m, beginning with an audible beep. 2. The audible beep begins at a rate of 8.5km/h. 3. The audible beep is incrementally increased by 0.5km/h every 1 minute. The test continues until failure or fatigue occurs on 2 consecutive runs.
